Third suspect in custody for Eveleth kidnapping

Authorities say a third person has been taken into custody in connection with a kidnapping and assault incident in Eveleth.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) says a 38-year-old man turned himself in Monday morning at the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office in Virginia. The BCA says he’s been booked on probable cause burglary, third-degree assault, and kidnapping.

Two other suspects, a 37-year-old man and a 29-year-old man, have already been taken into custody.

The incident happened around November 27 at a home in Eveleth’s north end. Authorities say a woman was sexually assaulted and beaten, and a man was kidnapped and beaten for an extended period of time. The victims did escape, reporting the incident to law enforcement on December 1.

The BCA is actively investigating, with the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, the Hibbing Police Department, the Eveleth Police Department, and the Gilbert Police Department.
