Today will begin cloudy with precipitation chances in the early morning hours. Areas north of Highway-2 will see snow while the rest of the Northland will have mostly rain as the precipitation type. By midday, the clouds will gradually clear, and dry weather will prevail. Highs today will range from the upper thirties towards International Falls to 50 degrees near Ashland. This afternoon will have strong westerly winds of 20-30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.

The National Weather Service has issued a Fire Weather Watch for south St. Louis, Carlton, Pine, and Aitkin Counties. This watch will be in effect from 1pm until 7pm.

The strong winds will continue into the night. Overnight lows will be mostly in the twenties, but portions of Lake of the Woods and Beltrami Counties may drop to the teens.

Temperature-wise, this week will be a bit of a roller coaster. Wednesday will warm to the low fifties, but by Saturday, highs will be in the twenties.

Rain is likely Tuesday afternoon through Thursday. As temperatures drop Thursday night, the precipitation type is expected to change to snow. While it is too early to forecast snowfall amounts, we could see snow all day Friday and possibly into Saturday.
