Justin Liles: Cold Tuesday followed by a big warm up

December 11th: Cold Tuesday

Cold Tuesday

A clipper will bypass us this evening some light snow is possible. Early Tuesday morning travel could become slick around the region. Winds will also begin to pick up, become blustery and stay with us most of the week. Colder air coming in behind this clipper will also help to create some lake effect snow out in the U.P. of Michigan.

Tuesday will likely be the coldest day we’ve had since November 27th, when we hit 14°. We won’t be quite that cold but lower 20s are likely with some teens up north. The bad news is what snow has fallen will melt again by the end of the week. Temperatures are expected to climb into the low to mid 40s once again. There is a chance of a mix on Friday but most of the precipitation looks to be mostly rain. There is just not a lot of moisture in the forecast. It’s starting to look more and more likely we’ll see a brown Christmas.
