The weather is quieting down while we clean up from the weekend storm. The next potential storm is on the horizon, possibly impacting travel Thursday and Friday. Our Monday begins with light snow lingering along the South Shore and light localized accumulation. Snow here gradually fizzles out through the morning, then scattered flurries are possible this afternoon under a mix of clouds and sun. Highs stay in mid-20s to near 30 today.

Tonight will be cold with clear skies and light winds allowing temps to fall into single digits above and below zero. After a chilly Tuesday morning bus stop, south winds kick in and begin a warming trend. Highs reach low and mid-30s with sunny skies, allowing for some much needed melting. Wednesday is warmer but cloudier with temps rising to upper 30s to low 40s.

Precipitation from the next system will begin Wednesday night as a wintry mix, with mostly rain near and south of the Twin Ports. Snow mixes in and takes over during the day Thursday. Once the transition takes place, widespread snow is possible through Thursday night, Friday, and Friday night. Gusty winds will also be a factor, howling out of the northeast on Thursday and shifting to be more northerly on Friday. This should be another round of plowable snow across the Northland, but accumulation potential will depend on precipitation type and the exact track of the system, both of which are uncertain at this time.
