Justin Liles: Lingering snow for some, cold for others

Light to moderate snow continues across much of the Northland this afternoon. Continued gusty northeast winds near Lake Superior continue to create near whiteout conditions for parts of highway 2 and highway 13 along the south shore. Lake effect snow is likely along the south shore through tonight before wrapping up by early Friday morning. Cold wind chills are expected again tonight across all of northeast and north-central Minnesota. These wind chills last into early to mid-Friday morning. Wind chill values could reach as low as -20° to -35°.

Temperatures will rebound this weekend with some sunshine as high-pressure returns this weekend. The next two weeks around the Northland look to be active as we head into a new month. We’ll see another weather make set to roll through late Sunday night through Tuesday morning. This one looks to start us off with some freezing rain before turning over to snow. Both forms of precipitation will create problems on the roads as snow accumulates on ice. More light snow returns by the middle of the week. Let’s not forget the MN boys hockey tournament starts the week of March 6th. Don’t be surprised to see a larger weather event around this time too.
