Supported by family and faith, Iron Range woman focuses on fighting cancer

Benefit coming up for Range woman fighting cancer

Shelly Johnson relies on faith and her family as she battles cancer.

Shelly Johnson’s faith and family keeps her going, on her three and a half year journey with metastatic breast cancer.

It’s moved to her brain, and she recently wrapped up whole brain radiation therapy at Essentia Health.

“I’m not throwing anything in yet. I’m going to give cancer a black eye,” she told us. “According to my doctor, I’ve already lived beyond the expectations. I belong to different support groups and forums, and I hope I can inspire others. I hand each day to God, and pray about it.”

You can help Shelly, who is from Britt, at an upcoming fundraiser in Virginia. It’s coming up Saturday, April 20th.

“How much Shelly has loved us, with her talents and gifts, all we can do is rally behind her. Drive her down here for treatment. We don’t want her to worry about anything,” shared one of her sisters, Laura Tassoni.
