In early December the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) approved the addition of lacrosse as a sanctioned high school sport.

Monday night the Superior School Board voted on whether to add their own programs, and by a vote of 6-1 the measure passed.

The WIAA has the 2023-2024 school year tabbed as the inaugural season for Wisconsin prep lacrosse.

This is the first time since sanctioning soccer in 1982-1983 that a new sport will be introduced for both girls and boys in the state.
