A connection between the Northwoods/Solon Springs and Duluth Denfeld head coaches turned from friends to foes clashing on Wednesday afternoon at Wade Stadium. Denfeld’s Joe Wicklund and Solon’s Nathan Ahlberg played together in high school, became college teammates at The College of Saint Scholastica, and are now head coaches.

The Green Eagles came into town looking for a win, but the Hunters went on a hunt to protect their home turf. Bottom of the 5th, green eagles with the lead 5-4 until Hunter’s Calbe Kilroy launched one almost over the fence, allowing Owen Hindermann and another runner to score.

Green Eagles take control of the lead 10-9 in the top of the seventh, and Jared Schultz sends a sac fly into the outfield, sending two runs home.

Solon Spring went on to win 12-9 over the Hunters.
