Last weekend the No. 6 University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) women’s hockey team shined upsetting the then-second ranked University of Wisconsin Sunday to ultimately split their series with the Badgers.

Part of the Bulldogs success can be attributed to their goaltenders Ève Gascon and Hailey MacLeod, both ranked in the top ten of NCAA DI goalies. However, UMD’s next challenge will be another pair of top-ranked netminders at No. 8 St. Cloud State University

“We’ll play whatever game presents itself and whatever game we sort of dictate out there. So if it’s going to be low scoring, we feel confident in our goaltenders to do what they need to do and also our team defense. That was outstanding on the weekend, especially on Sunday. So we’re confident there,” UMD head coach Maura Crowell said.

Entering this weekend MacLeod, a UMD sophomore, is ranked first in the nation in save percentage with a .968. The Huskies’ netminder Sanni Ahola is second with a .966, sharing the pipes with Bulldog Jojo Chobak.

Puck drop in St. Cloud is 6 p.m. Friday and 3 p.m. Saturday. UMD enters 10-5-1 to the Huskies 12-5 record.
