Nine members of UWS Women’s soccer garner UMAC awards

The UWS Women's soccer team had nine members of the program take home UMAC awards.

Nine members of the UWS Women’s soccer program have won UMAC awards.

Allison Alessi, Lindrey Schendel, Niya Wilson, Mya Holmquisst, and Brenna Mattson were all named to the All-UMAC First Team.

In addition, Mattson won UMAC defensive player of the year. Mattson served as the back line of a defense that only averaged one goal per game and only seven shots per contest.

Halle Carson and Tori Vosburg were named to the All-UMAC Second Team, while Jenna Lang was named to the All-UMAC Honorable Mention list.

Kaitlyn Raisch was the Yellowjackets representative on the Sportsmanship Team.

In addition to all of the player awards, Head Coach Allison DeGroot was named the UMAC coach of the year for the fourth straight season. DeGroot led her team to a 16-5-1 season and yet another NCAA tournament appearance.

The Yellowjackets will face UW-La Crosse on Saturday in the first round of the NCAA tournament.
