Help fight cancer at Hermantown Arena Tuesday night

Tuesday night is “Hockey Fights Cancer” night at Hermantown Arena, where the Squirt, Peewee, and Bantam levels of Hermantown Hockey and Duluth East Hockey will square off against each other for a good cause.

Outside the rink, different activities including a silent auction will be happening in effort to raise money for Jodi McShane, who is fighting stage 3 breast cancer.

“I just want to say thank you,” said McShane. “We’ve been really touched by the families that have supported us and our coworkers, the sports families. I mean, with everybody in the hockey community, you just are so blessed and so lucky. I just want to thank them all. It wasn’t anything that we expected, but it’s everyone.”

All of the funds from the event will be given to McShane and her family. Game one starts a 5 p.m. Tuesday.

If you would like to donate ahead of time, head to the Duluth Amateur Hockey Association donation link, or to support the Hermantown side directly, there is a separate donation link.

Proceeds will also go towards the families that Duluth East has chosen.
