On Tuesday, the Duluth Marshall Boy’s soccer team punched their ticket to the state tournament after shutting out PACT Charter School, 3-0. The win marks their first section title since 2012.

Two of the Hilltoppers three goals came from Denzel Majwega, who was the second leading goal scorer in the entire state.

The third goal was courtesy of Teddy Nguyen, who netted his first of the season, an incredible moment for him and the Hilltoppers.

“I feel proud of myself, of course, and I feel comfortable with the end of the game,” said Nguyen”. “That goal was for every single of my teammates as well as my loved ones.”

Mike Sengbush, Duluth Marshall’s Head Coach, also chipped in on Nguyen’s special moment.

“That’s high school sports. I mean, those little magic moments, you know, just come out of the blue. I mean, granted, we had to get them on the field, but since seeing someone like Teddy, who’s been here for two years now, commit and work his tail off and get that special moment, those are the little things that are just truly fun.”

The state tournament kicks off on October 24th.
