Senior men’s curling championships coming to Eveleth

The United States Senior Men's National Curling Championship will be this coming weekend in Eveleth.

The USSMCA National Senior Men’s Curling Championships start Thursday at Curl Mesabi in Eveleth.

There are 64 teams scheduled to compete in three divisions: Seniors (55+), Super Seniors (63+), and Masters (68+). The two oldest curlers are 82 years old.

Curl Mesabi has hosted this event twice before: in 2000 and 2005.

“We’ve got one of the few eight-sheet clubs in the country, so we’re able to host these events,” Ardy Nurmi-Wilberg of Curl Mesabi said.

Games start at 8 a.m. Thursday with the finals scheduled for 9 and 11:30 a.m. Sunday. They are open to the public to watch for no charge.
