Learn how to keep a fresh fridge at the Cloquet Library

A traveling exhibit will be at the Cloquet Public Library to learn about food safety in your refrigerator.

There’s a traveling exhibit set up at the Cloquet Public Library that teaches people how to keep the groceries in their fridge fresh.

“Save Your Food” is in partnership with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency and the State Library Services.

“It’s a nice way to get information to people who maybe aren’t thinking about this topic or maybe they do think about it and they’re like, well, I don’t really know where to go to get the information,” Cloquet Public Library Director Courtney Dietsche said.

People take a scanner and scan bar codes on different food items in a mini fridge. Then a fact or tip will display on a screen next to it. Dietsche said she learned a few things herself from the setup.

“This one I thought was interesting: that you should store fish on ice, even in the fridge,” she said, scanning some salmon.

The display will be at the Cloquet Library for about a month.
