Voting opens in Minnesota’s Presidential Nomination Primary
Voting for the March 5, 2024 Presidential Nomination Primary will begin in Minnesota on Friday, January 19, 2024. According to the Secretary of State, there will be three ballots available for voters, one for each major party – Republican, Democratic-Farmer-Labor, or Legal Marijuana Now.
Voters can only vote in one party’s primary.
“There is no question that this election year will be among the most intense in history,” Secretary of State Steve Simon said. “The presidential candidates will likely inspire strong feelings, people will be passionate and that’s ok. We are after all electing the most powerful person in the United States and probably the world.”
The state’s no-excuse absentee voting law allows for eligible voters to cast their ballot starting 46 days before the election. Election officials say all absentee and mail ballots must be returned by 8 p.m. on election day (Tuesday, March 5, 2024.)
You can request a ballot to vote from home at mnvotes.gov.
Voters can call the Office of the Minnesota Secretary of State at 1-877-600-VOTE (8683) to ask voting-related questions from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, with extended hours on Election Day.
