Fire in Britt leaves multi-family home completely destroyed

On November 25th around 2 a.m., St. Louis County Sheriff’s deputies and six area fire departments responded to a fire at a quad-plex multi-family home.

Deputies say that the home is located in Britt, Minnesota in the 8400 block of Nelson Rd. Officials say the initial report was that the fire started by a candle in one of the bedrooms.

The Northland FireWire says that the building has four apartments.

Upon arrival the residence was fully engulfed in flames. Officials say the home is fully destroyed as a result of the fire. Deputies note that one person was treated for smoke inhalation. No other injuries have been reported.

The fire is being investigated by the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office and the MN State Fire Marshal’s Office.

The fire departments who helped assist with the fire include Pike-Sandy-Britt, Virginia, Mountain Iron, Embarrass, Cook, Kinney-Great Scott, and Vermillion Lake.
