One person is dead, and two suspects are in custody following a shooting in Duluth

UPDATE: Duluth Police continue to investigate two shootings in Duluth. According to authorities, one person is dead following a shooting in the 2500 block of W 2nd Street at 1:30 p.m. When police arrived, they found two victims. A 19-year-old man was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. His name has not been released until after family is notified. The second victim, a 18-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound and was transported to a hospital by a private vehicle.

A second report of shots fired came in around 2:00 p.m. on the 3900 block of W 4th Street. No victims were located at the scene. Duluth police say they believe the two incidents are related.

Two people are in custody. Police continue to investigate.

ORIGINAL STORY: Duluth Police continue to investigate two shootings in Duluth, that police say may be connected.

According to authorities, officers responded to a report of a shooting on the 2500 block of West Second Street around 1:30 Wednesday afternoon. Then around 2:00 p.m., officers were called to the 3800 block of West Fourth Street for another report of shots fired.

Chief Mike Ceynowa says this is a very active situation.

“We do have some people still out in our community who are involved in this event. They are armed. They are dangerous,” Chief Ceynowa said. “We believe they are interconnected to each other and that the incident is involving those parties. But that’s all we have at this time.”

WDIO staff spoke with a neighbor on scene, who said they heard five or six gunshots around 2:00 p.m.

Authorities say two people were injured at the first location and were transported to a local hospital. Their condition is unknown. No one was injured at the second location.

Multiple homes were damaged on the 3800 block of West Fourth Street. One resident told WDIO that she had damage done to her the door and siding of her home. Karon Zetina says she was in her living room.

“I was kind of shocked, and at first didn’t realize what was going on,” Zetina said. “It was kind of scary once I realized and saw the holes.”
