With summer practically flying by, it’s already the final weekend of July, which means it’s time for Carlton Daze. Carlton Daze weekend is from July 28-30, with fun activities ranging from raffles, to kayaking, and a parade.

On Saturday there was the highly anticipated classic car show took place with bright and unique vehicles lined main street in style.

It attracts both locals and those from out of town. One couple, Claude John Jones and Anna Marie Jones, made a pit stop at Carlton Daze on their journey from Iowa to Grand Marais.

“One of her neighbors was bringing over his old Dodge Roadrunner, and we said, okay, we’ve got it. I’m an old car guy, so we’ve got to go and see the car,” Claude John Jones said.

“I think it’s great. He loves that. And I just go along and try to learn a little bit more about cars,” Anna Marie Jones said.

The Carlton Daze festivities continue on Sunday July 30th, with a Bloody Mary bar and bean bag tournament at the V-F-W.

There’s a book sale at the library, and the ever-popular parade starts at 1 p-m. Also at the fire hall there’s an open house and free root beer float.
