The Knights of Columbus sponsored the 40th Annual Omelet Fundraiser at Holy Assumption Church in Superior.

Bob Chammings, the Deacon at Holy Assumption Church, said they had to hold off on the fundraiser for a couple of years during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

“It’s still going strong. Our Knights of Columbus group does this every year as one of the major fund raisers for our parish,” Chammings said. “We not only help the parish get the funds that we raise have as Knights of Columbus. The funds go to help charities and people in need.”

Chammings also said the 40th Annual Omelet Fundraiser couldn’t happen without the help from volunteers. Also continued support from members in community.

“There are people not just from Holy Assumption. They’re from Foxborough. We have some that come from Duluth because they know about it. They come from the other parishes, not just the Catholic churches. They come from other churches,” Chammings said. “Our Lutheran brothers and sisters just a couple of blocks away come every year. They’ve got a group that comes to all our fundraisers and of course vice versa.”

Chammings said he hopes the Annual Omelet Fundraiser can continue in the future. Especially since they are always looking for more volunteers to continue the community event.

“We used to have a lot more, but the demographics of our parish… We’re old folks. I’m one of the younger ones and I’m going to be 77 in March. So we have a lot of old folks, very few young families, and we’re hoping we can get more, but we’re still alive, we’re still kickin’ and we’re still making eggs.”

Holy Assumption Church has several other fundraisers later this year including a taco dinner and a lasagna dinner. For more information about events with Holy Assumption Church you can read more here. Also for other stories happening in Superior you can read more here.
