To ensure the safety of students getting on and off buses, the Duluth Police Department will be out and about educating the community about the laws regarding school bus stop arms.

The Duluth Police Department says it has responded to 79 calls regarding stop-arm violations between January 1 through October 17, 2023. They say 12 citations were given out for misdemeanor stop-arm violations, and two cases were charged for gross misdemeanor stop-arm violations.

To ensure the safety of students getting on and off buses, the Duluth Police Department along with the Voyager Bus Company, will be out and about educating the community about the laws regarding school bus stop arms.

This campaign kicked off Wednesday morning and updated statistics will be shared during the educational campaign.

Earlier this year, the DPD released a PSA on their Facebook page for information drivers should remember when they see a school bus stop arm out and lights activated.
