On Saturday, July 1, The Depot played host to Camp Esquagama at the historic building. In a statement The Depot said the special event was organized to bring the spirit of summer camp back to the community.

Camp Esquagama is renowned for its summer camp programs right here in St. Louis County. This unique collaboration with the Depot provided children, families, and individuals of all ages with a taste of the traditional summer camp experience.

Throughout the day, attendees had the opportunity to engage with camp counselors from around the world. These enthusiastic and talented individuals lead a variety of activities, ensuring that everyone can find something that ignites their passion and curiosity. From arts and crafts to outdoor games, from team building activities to sing-along songs, there was no shortage of exciting opportunities for attendees to explore and enjoy.

Robert Johnson, the camp director, also highlighted some of the other resources available at the event.

“We have one of our adventure tents here because we have an adventure program for the older youths. We are also making some stained-glass crafts, some DIY lanterns, friendship bracelets. We have a little camp stove and choir with storytelling camp songs and some other variety of games.”

Organizers say the free event is a celebration of learning, creativity, and connection with other community members to experience the joy and camaraderie that summer camp brings.
