Essentia-St. Mary’s: Big Hospital. Big Challenge.

It is now open. The nearly $1 billion project. The Essentia Health complex now dominates the skyline of Duluth. The hospital is supposed to be usable for more than 50 years and designed to be flexible, adapting to change as modern medicine continues to advance. It comes amid rising healthcare costs, a shortage of nurses and other labor concerns, and attempts to serve the vast geography and many remote communities of the Northland.
