Spooner woman seriously injured after being hit by car

A Spooner woman was seriously injured after being hit by a car on Friday morning near Spooner.
A release from the Wisconsin State Patrol says the 53-year-old woman was walking westbound through the crosswalk at Highway 63 and Main Street when a southbound vehicle struck her, severely injuring her.
She was transported to Spooner Hospital with life threatening injuries.
The release says preliminary investigation indicates the pedestrian failed to yield to the vehicle that had a green light.
The driver of the vehicle that allegedly hit the Spooner woman was not injured, and alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
The Spooner Police Department, Washburn County Sheriff’s Department, and North Memorial Ambulance Service assisted the Wisconsin State Patrol on scene.
