Grand Rapids dedicates football field to Tom Drazenovich
A ceremony five years in the making finally took place Friday as Grand Rapids officially unveiled the new name plaque dedicating their practice football field to longtime former coach, Tom Drazenovich.
"Thanks isn’t enough. you know I had so many special times with Grand Rapids and more importantly I watched so many young people grow," said Drazenovich.
Community members, Grand Rapids football fans and alumni attended the event. Lovingly known as "Mr.D" he coached the Thunderhawks for over 30 years, inspiring many young athletes especially his grandson, former rapids quarterback Andy Thomsen.
