Cohasset native Zach Stejskal signs with professional team in Finland
Former UMD goaltender Zach Stejskal, who entered the transfer portal just days ago, has decided to head to the pros, signing with Hokki, in Finland.
Hokki competes in the second-highest league in Finland, named “Mestis”, which translates to “championship series” in English.
Stejskal now leaves Minnesota after growing up in Cohasset and playing for Grand Rapids in high school.
In 57 career games with the Bulldogs, the Cohasset native posted a .903 save percentage and 2.78 goals against average.
Prior to college, Stejskal backstopped Grand Rapids to a 2017 Class AA state title, their first in 37 years.
UMD will return sophomore goalie Zach Sandy, as well as welcome in two freshmen.
