The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) men’s hockey team is coming off their bye week rested and ready to snap a four game losing skid.

They took this week to nail down a strategy for their upcoming foe in the 20th ranked University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO). The Mavericks return 18 players making their roster a familiar one to the Bulldogs.

“They’re hard at the net, they’re hard down low. They’ve got some big bodies, they’ve got some speed to their team. Obviously they’ve got some skill guys but they’ve always been a team that’s good at the net,” UMD head coach Scott Sandelin said. “We’ve taken some bad penalties, untimely penalties that kill momentum. We have to be much more disciplined there.”

“There’s no reason to panic. We have to come together and we know the only way out is through, so we’re continuing to do that,” senior forward Blake Biondi shared.

UMD went 1-3 against the Mavericks last season. The Bulldogs enter this weekend 3-7-3 in great need of their first National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) points.

Puck drop against 8-3-1 Omaha is Friday at 7:07 p.m. and Saturday at 5:07 p.m. at AMSOIL Arena.
