Fiddle workshop at the Nordic Center

The Nordic Center will be hosting a series of fiddle workshops from November through April on the third Sunday of each month (Nov 19, Dec 17, Jan 21, Feb 18, March 17, April 21st).

Paul Dahlin will lead an introduction to the folk music of Sweden, mostly the province of Dalarna. He said Vals, schottis, polska and gånglåtar will be explored, and the major focus will be on rhythm and motion.

He also added that, It will be necessary for all to come with eyes and ears open to new sounds and motions. Although this is primarily fiddle music, other instruments are welcome so, one can bring a recording device.

The workshop series is said to culminate with a celebration dance on Sunday, April 27th (dance!)
