The area of low pressure responsible for our show of storms last night has now pushed east. We now will start the process of seeing a large ridge of warmer air build in through the weekend and into next week. This is the same ridge that has brought many days record breaking heat to the desert southwest. The overall pattern flow from northwest to southeast.

Several pieces of energy will move in this direction as they get caught in the ridge. There will be a chance of light rain because of this flow. The first will be Friday night, the second will be Saturday night, and then again by the middle of next week. We’re not looking at anything severe during these time frames. Air conditioners that may have received a break lately will likely be in use full time next week. Many parts of the Northland will see near record heat. Temperatures will climb into the upper 80s and lower 90s.
