Justin Liles: Nicer weekend around the corner

A cold front is moving through the Northland, bringing scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms to the region. There is a marginal threat for severe storms in the afternoon across Price and southern Iron and Ashland counties. Between a quarter and a half inch of rainfall is possible for most of the region with more possible in spots of thunderstorm development.

In the wake of the cold front and rain, smoke from Canadian wildfires is getting brought down to the surface, and may reduce visibilities in a few locations today. Rain chances linger tonight and into Friday, but precipitation amounts will be light. There is chance of fog developing Friday morning too. Skies should clear on Friday as a high pressure moves in behind the front. Then conditions remain mild and sunny for the weekend and into next week.
