When will the rain stop? That’s the question on many Northlanders mind today. By the looks of things, a large-slow moving low will continue to dive south from Minnesota to northeast Iowa. Light to moderate rain is expected tonight. The highest amounts of accumulations will be over the areas where saturated soils already exist. These areas include along the North Shore from Duluth to Silver Bay and south of U.S. Hwy 2. Monitoring any future flooding through the evening is high priority right now.

We’ve already received over 9” of rain this month which is 7” above normal. In the last three days we’ve had roughly 4.61” of rain making it the 14th wettest 3 day stretch since the 7.25” during the June flood of 2012. Regardless, we have a bunch of water, and our wetter conditions may improve some Tuesday, but it will likely be short lived.

Another round of wet weather arrives again this weekend. Showers once again look to get started Friday and last through the weekend. Temperatures will likely climb well above average this weekend and there is a chance that we’ll be warm enough to see some record high overnight lows.
