Justin Liles: Heavy rain and possibly flooding tonight

Another area of low pressure is passing by with cold swinging through. This incoming weather system expected to create locally heavy rainfall that may lead to flooding along the North Shore and potential for isolated severe thunderstorms. There is a flood watch for the north shore head of the lake Carlton and Pine Counties as well as Douglas County in Wisconsin. Up to 2” of rain may fall over already water-logged soils within and north of the Twin Ports into shoreline areas of Lake County and may lead to flooding.

The heaviest rainfall most likely along the North Shore and into northwest Wisconsin Friday evening to Saturday early morning. Foggy weather will likely stay with us through the weekend too. Temperatures will warm up through the weekend as well. Daytime highs may reach the upper 70s to low 80s by Monday once the winds shift to the southwest. Conditions will dry out.
