An Air Quality Alert continues until noon in Wisconsin and until midnight in Gogebic and Ontonagon Co. These areas will see improvement through the morning as near-surface smoke exits the region to the east. Thunderstorm chances fill out the Northland from the north through the afternoon and evening, with the greatest chance along and north of the Iron Range. No severe storms are expected, but a stray storm may produce small hail, gusty winds, and heavy downpours.

Warmth builds into the region starting today. Highs will range from mid-70s north to mid-80s south. Even lakeside areas in the Twin Ports will warm near 80 due to a west wind. Tonight is mostly clear with lows in mid-50s to near 60. Friday features mostly sunny skies, highs in upper 70s to mid-80s, and another west wind. The weather system that brought our wet Wednesday will still be spinning in Ontario trying to generate a stray shower or thunderstorm near the Canadian border, but it’ll be competing with surface high pressure that provides drier air.

We’ll then stay generally dry Saturday and Sunday with more sunshine and 80s. An east wind returns to keep lakeside areas cooler Sunday through Tuesday, but inland areas will remain toasty. A chance for showers and thunderstorms arrives Monday night and linger through Tuesday night into Wednesday.
