Dangerous fire weather is the focus today as dry conditions persist. We look east in northern Wisconsin and the U.P. for a few showers today, tonight, and into tomorrow. After that, the only moisture in sight would be at the end of the week. That means a low chance for showers and thunderstorms Friday evening for the William A. Irvin 5k and lingering showers Saturday morning for Grandma’s Marathon half and full races.

Temperatures trend warmer following a cool weekend. Highs today range from near 80 in International Falls to low 60s east toward Ironwood where cloudy skies and showers are possible. The Twin Ports will see 70s, but expect the temp to fall around 10 degrees by the lake in the afternoon as a northwest wind shifts to east. Lows are in low to upper 40s tonight as we continue to look east in Wisconsin for clouds and showers.

Tuesday’s highs range from mid-80s in northern Minnesota to near 70 looking east toward Ironwood where cloudier skies and shower chances linger. Wednesday will bring more 80 degree warmth to the region, but an east wind will keep the shorelines cooler. A stronger east wind kicks in Thursday. An east wind consistently brings “cooler by the Lake” conditions through the weekend, meaning temps in the 50s along the route of the Marathon.
