Our Sunday begins with chilly early morning temps and patchy fog before 8 am, then sunshine takes over. Off-shore winds linger, but with less gusto than today. Areas immediately near Lake Superior should top off in upper 50s. Highs as a region range from low 60s east toward Ironwood to mid-70s west near Brainerd and International Falls.

Temps trend warmer from the northwest through the start of the week with widespread 80s returning by Tuesday. Sunny and dry weather will continue through the bulk of the week, exacerbating the current drought and fire danger conditions.

Looking ahead to Grandma’s Marathon weekend, Friday’s festivities should remain dry with rain chances holding to the west. A low chance for showers and thunderstorms arrives by Saturday. Both Friday and Saturday should feature a welcomed east wind that will keep all races under the cooler influence of Lake Superior.
