It was a tale of two fates for the UWS soccer teams on Sunday, as the men fell to Bethany Lutheran while the women beat Bethany Lutheran, 2-1.

In the men’s game, the Yellowjackets suffered from empty chances, as they registered 14 shots, but none of them found the back of the net.

It was Bethany Lutheran’s Daniel Almeida who netted the game winner in the 75th minute, which resulted in UWS’ first UMAC loss.

Over on the women’s side, it was a back and forth battle, as UWS’ Kamryn Hill scored a goal in the 17th minute, but it was met quickly after halftime when Olaitz Muguruza sent the equalizer to the back of the net in the 47th minute.

Later on, it was Allison Alessi who scored the game winner in the 79th minute for the Yellowjackets, a huge moment for the team.

Both teams are back in action on Wednesday when they face Northland College.
