UMD men’s & women’s hockey land in preseason polls

Both the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) men’s and women’s hockey teams are considered amongst the nation’s top teams according to recent preseason polls.

The UMD men landed 17th in the USCHO.com top 20 preseason poll released on Monday. Boston University holds the top spot.

UMD fell out of the rankings November 22, 2022 for the first time since 2016. They would finish the 2022-2023 winter with a 16-20-1 overall record. They’re set to drop the puck on the 2023-24 season Saturday, October 7 as they host Michigan tech.

Meanwhile the UMD women are considered a top 10 team heading into their season.

The Bulldogs landed seventh in The Rink Live/USA Hockey poll. Wisconsin, Ohio State, and Minnesota went one, two and three.

The UMD women open their season Friday, October 6 hosting Long Island University.
