Three Northland teams, 12 individuals take on state golf tournament

Three Northland teams are on their way to the state golf tournament.

Ely/Northeast Range were sent on their way to the state tournament after winning the section 7A title.

Class AA has two teams representing – those being the Cloquet boys team and Rock Ridge girls.

Cloquet put together a team effort of 628 while Rock Ridge prevailed with a 736 total score.

Along with the three teams though, 12 individual golfers also qualified for the state meet, which are: Duluth East’s Abby Schintz and Kyle Peterson,  International Falls’ Kelby Anderson, Cloquet’s Lance Sayler, Allie Lampa of Mesabi East, Jayla Jones from Proctor/Esko, Holden Evjen from Hermantown, Andrew Slatten of Hibbing, Jack Slattengren from Hermantown, Cade Peterson with Two Harbors, Caiden Carpenter from Greenway/Nashwauk-Keewatin, North Woods’ Tori Olson and Moose Lake/Willow River’s Cullen Chuinard.

The state golf tournament runs June 11-12. The Class A tournament is at Pebble Creek, the Class AA stage will be the Ridges at Sand Creek, and the Class AAA stage will be the Bunker Hills Golf Club.
