Even after Grandma’s Marathon wrapped up this town can’t get enough running, it’s in their blood and Saturday marked the start of the Summer Sunshine DiffeRUNce 5k. Which took place beginning and ending on the Cross City trail in front of Ursa Minor Brewing, benefitting Mentor North.

“We’re going to run a 5K or walk it, skip it, or hula hoop it for all good fun so that we can increase quality youth mentoring in the Twin Ports. It’s incredible to have the community come together, and that’s really what it’s all about at Mentor North. It’s one on one mentoring based in the community so it takes all the people coming together to make a difference and we’re really excited to have everybody come out today,” said Development/Communications Coordinator Samantha Smingler.

The event boasted not only runners, but also walkers and even roller blader’s.

Donations from the day went to directly supporting youth in the Twin Ports through mentoring relationships and wrap-around care for families and more at Mentor North.
