Friday the University of Minnesota Duluth volleyball team will serve up their 2023 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) opener.

The Bulldogs enter the house of the University of Mary with a 7-1 overall record following a 3-1 run in their Up North Preseason Tournament. With three decisive wins the Bulldogs remain number seven in the American Volleyball Coaches Association DII polls.

Head coach Jim Boos attributes that success to their offensive powers.

“A lot of times you’ll look at the best blocking teams in the country and it’s usually not the teams with the best records. In volleyball the best records seem to revolve around offensive production.”

Now UMD is able to focus on a Marauders team they know well. The Bulldogs are undefeated against UMary boasting a 20-0 all-time record.

For their weekend road trip to North Dakota UMD first visits UMary Friday at 6 p.m., then Minot State University Saturday at 1 p.m..
