Last weekend the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) volleyball team served up two shutout victories on the road to open their Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference slate 2-0.

Friday the seventh ranked 9-1 Bulldogs return to the dog house for their season’s first NSIC match at Romano Gym hosting 9-1 Northern State University, also 2-0 in conference play.

“I think the level of competition that they’re going to bring is going to create such a fun atmosphere and such a fun energy in Romano,” senior Kaylyn Madison said. “They are going to keep more balls up than this past weekend. So just being able to keep firing and finding new options, if the shot that we usually hit they’re digging now.”

UMD is anchored by Madison, a defensive specialist, who was named NSIC Defensive Player of the Week. She averaged six digs per-set in their 3-0 wins at the University of Mary and Minot State University last Friday and Saturday.

The Bulldogs’ first serve Friday against Northern State is set for 6 p.m. at Romano Gym, then they host Minnesota State University-Moorhead Saturday at 2 p.m..
