No. 1 Mountain Iron-Buhl girls basketball punches their ticket to State championship

Friday afternoon the top-seeded Mountain Iron-Buhl (MIB) girls basketball team held off fifth seeded Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa (BBE) 61-57 in the Class A state semifinals punching their ticket to the championship game.

MIB trailed 32-26 at halftime surging back to outshoot BBE 35-25 in the second half securing the 61-57 victory. Rangers’ Sage Ganyo led the game with 23 points while Jordan Zubich added 17.

The Rangers improve to 29-3 and will make their first state championship appearance since 2016-2017, when they finished runners-up. This is MIB’s third straight state tournament, they have never won a state title.

MIB tips-off the title game Saturday at Noon at Williams Arena in Minneapolis. The Rangers will meet the BOLD Warrior’s who beat Hayfield 58-46 in the second Class A Semifinal game. You can watch the game on WDIO2 Me-TV and online at WDIO.com. Click here for where you can find Me-TV.
