Being able to come back home and give back to your roots in the place that raised you and developed you can be a wonderful opportunity to share knowledge and be a positive role model.

That opportunity is what Minnesota Vikings Pro Bowl Fullback and Duluth native CJ Ham has been able to do three years consecutive leading up to year four year, which was held Saturday afternoon at his old high school, Duluth Denfeld.

Every year after the camp, CJ hopes that campers can take one thing away with them when they depart.

“I just want these kids to come out here have fun and work hard. That’s the big thing; in life, you have got to work hard, and to enjoy life you got to have fun too. So, just putting those two things together and trying to show them the disciplines of what football has taught me. Following the instructions, teamwork; things like that that played a role in everything in life. Not just football.”

The camp held two sessions with 1st through 5th graders attending from 10 am to noon; then 6th through 9th graders from 1 pm to 3 pm.

All the proceeds from the camp will continue to support the Ham family scholarship presented by Essentia Health.
