Lunges are a basic exercise to strengthen the legs and core. Brigette Williams from Living Balanced says they can bolster your mobility and improve balance.

A reverse lunge can be easier on your knees than a forward lunge, she says. If you struggle with the movement, Williams said having a third point of contact can help.

She recommends 10 lunge reps on each side for 2-3 sets in your weekly routine.
