Over 60 students are spending six weeks on CSS’s campus, taking college prep courses and living in the dorms. It’s called Upward Bound.

Students study math, science, English, and a foreign language, which is ASL. Program Director, Amy Galarowitcz explains, “We’re trying to show them even from an early age, in ninth grade, that college is possible for students. So we start working on things like increasing your GPA and giving you community service opportunities to boost up your resume for college.”

On the sixth week, the program takes an immersion trip to Chicago. Haley Knutson says so far her Summer has been fun, and she’s looking forward to taking the trip, “This program has made me like, talk to new people, and I just gained, I feel like a lot of new experiences.”

Isaiah Foster, who was once a student is now a mentor, tells us, “Upward Bound helped me a ton. I don’t think I would’ve actually known so much about college and financial aid. I don’t think I would’ve gone to college without Upward Bound.”
