Winter and cold temps are approaching the Northland quickly, and today we had a reminder from Duluth Mom to get your gear in order now.

For Duluth Mom contributor Mollie Meinhold, winter is a big deal for her family, “We use the Chester Bowl Program, we have great hiking areas, and we have a ton of stuff in our front yard.”

“We try to stay outside.”

To prepare for the season, Meinhold says that she starts as soon as Winter is over by looking at what people are posting on trading websites. Then keeping a sort of tube to stockpile of items you may need.

Duluth Mom Andrea Jang says finding items that fit is part of the challenge, “Especially living here it’s sometime harder to get the size that you need.”

To stay warmer, insider a ski mask and mittens without the fingers. Layers are key, including long underwear and wool socks.

Mollie’s shares her mom hack: put wool socks inside the mittens to stay warmer.
