July is flying by, so every weekend is precious. Here’s the lowdown on what’s going on Around Town.

Old Time Fiddle Championship

Minnesota State Old Time Fiddle Championship

Mountain Iron will be fit as a fiddle Saturday when the 41st annual Minnesota State Old Time Fiddle Championship happens. Contestants can register starting at 10:30 a.m., and the show goes on at 1 p.m. at the Merritt School. Non-participants can enjoy the music for $10.

Iron River Blueberry Festival

Iron River Lions

This weekend is Iron River’s annual Blueberry Festival. The Iron River Lions are celebrating 50 years of it on Saturday and Sunday. Some of the big attractions include a pedal tractor pull, a pie eating contest, and the parade on Sunday.

Festival by the Lake

Lundeen Productions

At Bayfront Festival Park, it’s Festival by the Lake. It includes food, drinks, vendors, crafts, and kids’ activities. Gates open at 11 a.m. Saturday. Live music starts at noon and goes through 7 p.m. It’s $5 to get in, but kids 12 and under are free.
