It’s going to be a great summer for live music in Superior.

Superior Porchfest starts back up June 1 and continues every other Thursday, and the city will get in on international Make Music Day June 21.

“It’s in 120 countries, 1,000 cities,” Scott Lillo said. “This is the second year Porchfest is cohosting it. Musicians of any caliber can sign up.”

Organizers are looking for those musicians to play throughout the day on June 21. They’re planning more than 20 free live events. Musicians can register at MakeMusicDay.org/Superior. A schedule of events will be posted there too.

For Porchfest, live music comes to a different neighborhood in Superior every other Thursday. Homeowners volunteer their porches or lawns to host, and a food truck is parked nearby. The first one is at Girl Scout Point. Lillo says it’s amazing to watch neighbors connect.

“I was talking to somebody; they didn’t know their neighbor from 15 years that was three houses away. They waved,” he said, “but didn’t know each other’s names. They came out and shook hands, and I was like, now I’m hooked.”

He says they’re family- and dog-friendly events. Locations are announced a week prior on Facebook.
