Tech Bytes: Threads expands its user base

In today's Tech Bytes from ABC: Threads is giving an update on its users, Saks Fifth Avenue is acquiring a new company, there's a new social media app for teens.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerburg says his Threads platform has passed the 175- million *monthly active users mark ahead of Friday’s first anniversary. Meta has not revealed its *daily active user count or the average time users spend on the app.

The parent company of ‘Saks fifth avenue’ is acquiring neiman Marcus in a deal worth $2.6-Billion. No stores are expected to close. In a surprise move, Amazon will be a “minority investor” in the new company, providing technology and other services.

Finally, a new social networking app called “noplace” is now number one in the app store. Noplace is a modern-day myspace for Gen Z offering customizable profile and a space to follow friends and find others with shared interests. The 27-year old founder says she’s putting the social back into social media.
