UMD’s NRRI invites public to meet the scientists at an open house on Saturday

You’ve likely driven by the UMD Natural Resources Research Institute building along Highway 53, and wondered what’s inside.

Well, they’d like to show you around during an open house on Saturday, September 16th, from 10am-2pm.

There will be 16 stations where scientists are sharing what they are working on, from water protection to birds to iron ore.

June Breneman, the manager for Marketing and Communications for NRRI, shared, “Whenever I do give tours here, people are always saying, this is such a hopeful place because we’re really addressing challenges in Minnesota.”

You can also share your thoughts in the time capsule, which will be opened in 2063. Or bring your favorite rock for geologists to identify.
