Senator Grant Hauschild (DFL-Hermantown) announced the launch of his ‘Northland Strong’ Initiative, an effort to focus his outreach and policy priorities to keep Northland communities strong and safe.

The fact that Senator Hauschild represents the largest and most rural district in the State, it is critical that he focus his outreach and policy work to be most effective for northeastern Minnesota.

The Northland Strong Initiative will encompass five key priority areas including: Strong Families, Safe Communities, Outdoor Heritage, Innovative Economy, and A State that Works. Hauschild’s goal is to hear directly from constituents and stakeholders about their thoughts, ideas, and concerns related to these priority areas.

“Northland Strong is about bringing us together around a shared vision for a stronger and safer arrowhead region. That means developing an innovative economy, building safe and strong communities, and advancing our long held heritage of outdoor traditions,” said Senator Hauschild. “Over the coming months, I’ll meet with hundreds of northern Minnesotans to listen to their ideas as to how our region should approach the challenges and opportunities that lay ahead so that I am fully prepared with my policy priorities going into the upcoming legislative session.”

As part of the Northland Strong launch, Senator Hauschild will be hosting upcoming roundtables on each priority area with key stakeholders in different regions around the Senate District. The first two have official dates and the rest will be announced soon.

The first roundtable, Safe Communities – Emergency Medical Services on the Iron Range, will take place at Breitung Township Fire Hall in Soudan, MN on October 19 at 11:30 a.m.

The second roundtable, A State That Works – Discussion on the Minnesota Regulatory Environment, will take place at North Shore Health in Grand Marais on October 26 at 11 a.m.

The third roundtable,Strong Families – How Ely looks out for their youngest and wisest, will take place in November, 2023, date TBD.

The fourth roundtable, Outdoor Heritage – Investing in the Northland’s Outdoors, will take place in December, 2023, date TBD.

The Fifth roundtable, Innovative Economies – Diversifying the Northland Economy, will take place in January, 2024, date TBD.

Senator Hauschild started the Northland Strong initiative as an action plan for keeping our communities across Northeastern Minnesota strong and safe.

This initiative empowers constituents to have their voices heard and to impact policy goals for our region. Constituents and key stakeholders will have the opportunity to connect through local policy roundtables, business tours, and constituent outreach meetings.
